Support for vertically reciprocated analytical sampling probe - ensuring alignment and centering pref between ball-bearings retained in metal sleeve

A support for a vertically reciprocated sampling probe, to align and centre probe above a distribution table conveying a series of sample vessels, has two bearings, each pref. consisting of 3 balls held elastically against the probe, contained in a metal sleeve. Esp. in chemical analysis. Probes of considerably different diameter can be accommodated. Lateral shocks to probe are absorbed by displacement of balls. Balls fit sockets in sleeve and are retained by elastic bands in annular grooves, (alternatively a tubular elastic retainer may be used with a narrower sleeve beyond which balls project). Size of balls varies with range of probe size to be accommodated, but if ball diameter is less than 1/2 that of central cavity, sockets should have constrictions to prevent balls falling through.
