This catch arrangement for motor vehicle bonnet and boot covers ensures that the cover is not forced into the passenger compartments in the case of a collision, and the cover contributes to energy absorption. A profile is bolted at the joint of the body component on the wall of the engine compartment close to the edge of the bonnet. This profile extends almost over the whole length of the engine compartment, and is channel shaped with openings. A second profile is welded on the folded over edge of the bonnet cover and has locking hooks at regular intervals. When the bonnet cover is closed then the projections engage with openings in the other profile, and in a collision the projections and openings form positive flexible connections.
