The assembly or fixing in place the roofing membrane of roofs on buildings comprises a carrier shaped-section to be attached to the building and a setting shaped-section detachably mounted on this, with an intervening gap to accommodate the membrane; one section is a spreader with a lengthways extending hinge between two zones of engagement on the other. The adjustable spreader wedge forms the locking member for locking the spreader section in the fixture position, and is held in the required setting by one or more securing members, pref. in the form of notch members on the wedge surfaces, in a stepped recessed line. This is readily adaptable to varying requirements.
