Case loading system onto pallet - thrusts successive rows off conveyor side for loading complete layer by grab

The incoming cases are collected on a conveyor into stack lengths, and as each length is completed it is thrust sideways off the conveyor until a complete layer has been assembled. The layer is then gripped, lifted and set down on the pallet, this operation being repeated until a complete pallet load has been formed. Assembly of rows of cases continues during pallet changeover, and when unloading a pallet the process is carried out in the reverse order. A vertical lifting mechanism can be incorporated in a housing, with the truck carrying the grab head travelling horizontally in it. The cases are delivered by a belt, working in conjunction with a thruster plate, a control shaft regulating the stacking operation.
