Mechanical operation of hydraulic disc brake - uses cable operated wedge to provide parking or emergency brakes

The invention applies to hydraulic disc brakes operated by an annular piston and cylinder which forces the annular brake pads on to inward facing surfaces attached to the wheel hub. The brake pads have two symmetrical members fitted between them immediately outside the brake cylinder walls and opposite to the point where the hydraulic fluid is supplied to the brake. The surfaces of these members form tracks for the rollers so that when the central wedge is pulled by the Bowden cable the rollers eliminate friction between the wedge and the members which are forced apart and press the brakes pads against the brake discs.
