Rapid extn of cut lengths of metal profiles - from a shearing tool, using automatic, synchronised clamps on moving slide

In the extn. of metal profiles from working- or cutting stations, esp. during continuous operation, a moving slide (in addn. to the extn. rollers) is provided on the pref. synchronised device, on which pendulum clamps are mounted which are inclined slightly in the direction of travel of the profile and, immediately the working- or cutting- operation is complete, the slide movement is accelerated, e.g. by a compressed-air cylinder so the clamps carry the workpiece to the extn. rollers, when the latter engage, the clamps automatically disengage. Springs hold the clamps on the workpiece during the forward stroke but back-stops keep the clamps open at the end of the return stroke so the workpiece can move through the clamps. Used e.g. for the high-speed extn. of cut pieces from a shearing tool where the clamps overcome any jamming in the tool due to flash.
