Moving rolled bar shearing control - compares actual and desired cut lengths and regulates shear operation accordingly

Each cutting operation is initiated by the impulses of a signal emitter adjustable to the length of bar desired. Each time at the moment of cutting signal emitters detect the front and rear end positions of the off-cut portion and compare it with the desired figure. Any discrepancy is corrected for the subsequent operation by adjustment of the first signal emitter. The length can be measured by the time elapsed between a cutting operation and when the forward end passes the detecting emitter. The emitters can be arranged to slide in the direction of travel of the bar.
