1458114 Water heaters PIFCO Ltd 26 March 1975 [17 April 1974] 16711/74 Heading F4A In a beverage-making apparatus a water heating kettle 18 is provided with an electrical heating element 42 connected to a control circuit for connection to a supply of electrical current, a syphon tube 26 is provided inside the kettle and is provided with an open end 30 disposed adjacent to the base 32 of the kettle 18, the tube having a multicoiled portion 34 to prevent pre-syphoning and a further tube portion extending downwardly to an open second end portion 36 disposed below the base of the kettle 18 for introducing hot water into a tea pot or other infusion vessel 12 disposed below the kettle 18. A thermally operated cut-out switch 44 is provided which is responsive to the temperature of the water in the kettle to interrupt a conductive path supplying electrical energy to the heating element 42 when the temperature rises above a predetermined value. The control circuit includes switch means for energizing the heating element when the tea pot or other infusion vessel 12 is placed in position below the kettle 18. The control of the heating element is also provided by a clock 56 and manually operated overriding switches 76, 78. Cups and other containers may be housed on a tray 106 which rests on top of the casing 48 of the apparatus.
