The refrigeration unit has a cooled space (10) with a ventilation valve (1) connected with an electric heating element (8). A typical combination is a refrigeration space temperature of -20 deg.C to -22 deg.C with a pressure excess to that of atmosphere of 80 mm water column. The connection duct is a T-junction with an inlet (4) and an outlet stump (5) at right angles to the vessel access duct (2), which passes through the wall (3) of the refrigeration vessel. The three openings of the breather tube, two external and one internal are each covered by protective screens (9).
