1378816 Steam-heated mould THOMAS SCHMIDT AS and G E HUMMELSHOJ 13 March 1972 [15 March 1971] 11522/72 Heading B5A The hardening of a cast material is aided by employing a mould having a water-filled cavity into which steam is injected. A mould wall 5 (Fig. 1) includes a water-filled cavity 2, braced and aligned by steel sections 4. Water circulation is caused by steam from nipples 7 and injectors 8; there is an outwardly opening automatic overflow valve 9. Thermometer sockets 11 are provided. In a first embodiment, a battery of mould cavities are defined by a plurality of mould walls 5 (see Fig. 2) and U- shaped sides and bottom mounted on bogies 6 on a production line. Concrete 1, heated during mixing, is poured into the cavities; the steel boundary plates 3 are flat or profiled. Reinforcements are included in the concrete for producing building elements, and the battery is placed in a hardening chamber. In a second embodiment (see Figs. 3 and 4, not reproduced) a water-filled mould wall supports shuttering or further water-filled walls for the horizontal casting of a concrete slab. Apertured baffles (13) within the water-filled cavity reduce water movement during transport of the mould walls.
