1395782 Creaseproofing composition for textiles BADISCHE ANILIN-& SODA-FABRIK AG 4 July 1972 [5 July 1971] 31235/72 Heading DIP [Also in Division C3] Textile materials containing cellulose or regenerated cellulose are creaseproofed by a process using an aqueous liquor which liquor contains a methylolated amino-resin forming substance or a methylolated amino-resin forming substance which has been etherified at the methylol group, a curing catalyst optionally an organic solvent, and an emulsifier composition which comprises A 5 to 70 parts by weight of a copolymer containing (1) 1 to 10% by weight of units of an α, # ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid containing 3 to 10 carbon atoms which may or may not be substituted by one or more hetero atoms or groups containing hetero atoms or of a mixture of 2 or more such acids (b) 99 to 70% by weight of units of an ester of a C 1 -C 8 saturated alcohol with an acid defined in (a) or of a mixture of 2 or more -such esters and (c) 0 to 20% by weight of units of another copolymerisable ethylenically unsaturated compound which may or may not be capable of providing cross linking or of a mixture of 2 or more such unsaturated compounds; B 30 to 80 parts by weight of a cationic, anionic or non ionic surface active compound and C 30 to 87 parts by weight of water. The aqueous liquor may contain protective colloids e.g. polyvinyl alcohol or methyl cellulose. In the examples an emulsifier composition in which A is a copolymer of ethylacrylate, n butyl acrylate, acrylic acid and either methylmethacrylate or methacrylamide and B is a mixture of sodium paraffinsulphonate and an adduct of ethylene oxide and oleyl alcohol is mixed with one of trichloroethane, perchloroethylene or trichloroethylene one of NN' dimethylol 4, 5 dihydroxy (or dimethoxy) ethylene urea, NN' dimethylol propylene (or ethylene) urea, NN' di (methoxymethyl) propylene urea or NN' di (methoxymethyl) urone, further water and one of monochloroacetic acid, zinc nitrate and paratoluenesulphonic acid and the resultant composition is used in an aqueous finishing bath to treat cotton.
