1482514 Softening and water-repellancy treatment CHEMISCHE FABRIK PFERSEE GmbH 29 April 1976 [2 May 1975] 17528/76 Heading D1P [Also in Division C3] A composition for imparting to textile materials a softening finish and water-repellancy comprises an aqueous dispersion containing an emulsifier and a reaction product of a polyethylene imine and an isocyanate of formula where R is an aliphatic or araliphatic radical containing at least 10 carbon atoms. A non- ionic and/or cationic emulsifier may be used. In Examples polyethylene imine solutions are reacted with an alkyl isocyanate having a hydrocarbon radical with 17 to 18 carbon atoms and with heptadecyl isocyanate; some of the emulsifiers are added before the reaction and the rest after; the dispersions obtained are used to impregnate cotton poplin, polyester-cotton woven fabric, polyamidecotton woven fabric and wool-polyamide tweed, the fabrics then being dried and heated.
