The agitation gas inlet at the lower end of a mixer for powdered to granular solid materials, which includes a housing having a filtered gas outlet in its upper zone, consists of an upwardly expanding conical annular passage, in which guide plates extend from the inner to the outer housing wall. The guide plates extend through the passage with an inclination to the longitudinal axis of the mixer vessel. Used for mixing of particulate solid materials, including those having varying particle size structure or bulk density. Comparatively low press. gas is required (0.2-6.0 bar). There are no large expensive moving parts. Since the discharge valve does not have to open against the weight of the charge the size of the mixing vessel is not limited.
