The self-propelled road surface cutter is used for levelling and removing asphalt layers, concrete layer, or similar road surfacing materials which can be plasticised and which are in need of renewal, incorporating a heating device for asphalt. At the front and rear the vehicle is fitted wit two or more rocker arms, with two wheels on each one. Near both longitudinal sides there is a central jib arm between the central axis lines of the two sets of wheel groups, hinged for height adjustment. The adjustably mounted cutter roller which can be fixed in position, when set, is mounted at the other end of the jib assembly, to which it is connected by a vertically adjustable support wheel structure. Height adjustments required in negotiating irregularities are considerably reduced.
