The glue is fed from the glue pot past a stop valve (20, 21) to the spreading roller (6) from which it is transferred to the edge of the board which is moved along the guide plate (34). This plate extends close to the roller, where it serves to remove excess glue, which falls into a collecting chamber (13) directly underneath. The spiral (28) which drives the excess glue on through the chamber is formed in one with the spreading roller (6) and shares the same drive (8). A channel (30) rises from the collecting chamber to lead the glue back to the gluepotthe system to be drained (through 32) for cleaning.
