Spring actuated ski binding - with constantly decreasing lateral release force dependant on vertical release force

The binding comprises a sole holder pivotable about a transverse axis and a vertical axis and held in its boot-retaining position by locking means (14-17) which do not yield until given vertical and lateral release forces have been overcome. The locking means are mounted one behind the other so that the lateral release force constantly decreases during movement of the sole holder in the direction of opening, and consist of a piston (14) pivotably attached to the housing and biassed by a spring (19) towards a vertical release track (15) on the sole holder. The track supports a lateral release projection (17) which engages in a recess (22) on the laterally pivotable sole holder portion.
