1)The retrofit technique utilizing opening type thick hybrid wingwalls enhances both the lateral strength and ductility. 2)By enlargement of beam depth with additional longitudinal rebar in it, the more lateral capacity enhancement is also achieved. 3)By the retrofit technique utilizing non-opening type thick hybrid panel wall with additional stud dowel at bottom, high lateral capacity is achieved but sufficient ductility is not ensured. 4)In viewpoint of design and assessment, the proposed simplified methods to calculate flexural and shear strength can be applied.
