The ski is adaptable from soft to hard snow conditions by simply varying its rigidity and embodies at least one internal sealed conduit (2), extending for the length of the ski (1), and filled with liquid under pressure, the rigidity of the ski being varied by varying the liquid pressure as desired. The cavity presents a maximum volume when the ski is at rest, ski flexions in either sense causing reductions in cavity volume which are resisted to a degree depending on liquid pressure. At the ski rest position the conduit extends along a curve compounded of chord lengths. Pressure adjustment controls are provided on the ski and pressure release or expansion valves are provided, taking the form of pistons retained by calibrated springs or cushions of gas.
