A process and appts. are claimed for spinning multifilament polymeric yarn with the drawing out and winding of the extruded filaments combined in one operation. A low friction roller is located in the filament path to absorb the kinetic energy passing through the filaments, by the action of the reciprocating yarn guide at the winding point, so that the variable tensions imposed are compensated to ensure that a constant pull is applied to the extruded filaments emerging from the spinarette. The system prevents the variable tensions inherent in a reciprocating yarn guide unit from being transmitted to the filaments to a degree that the filament gaue would be changed.
