1460960 Polyoxyalkylene esters SOUTHERN SIZING CO 31 Dec 1974 [9 Oct 1974] 56160/74 Heading C3R [Also in Division C5] Esters of polyoxyalkylenes have the formula wherein R is a C 7-21 alkyl radical and M is a random mixture of oxyethylene and oxypropylene groups which mixture comprises 65-82% of the total wt. of the compound and in which the weight ratio of oxyethylene to oxypropylene is 1 : 1 to 7À5 : 1. The esters may be prepared by condensing 40-75% by wt. ethylene oxide and 10-40% by wt. propylene oxide with 18-35% by wt. of a C 8-22 fatty acid, e.g. at 114-180‹ C./ up to 100 p.s.i. for 4-8 hours. The fatty acid may be derived from coconut oil or hydrogenated tallow. Uses.-Textile fibre lubricant.
