A switching device, consists of a wedge (6) connected to a push-pull rod (7) and inserted between two contacts (5, 5') restrained by springs (4). The springs are connected to two wires (1, 2) part of an electric circuit. The wedge is made of an insulating plastic material. The push-pull rod (7) may be connected to an electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic or mechanical drive to provide the motive force (F). The contacts (5, 5') may be replaced by rollers and several set of contacts of rollers may be separated by one wedge. The switching device may be used in control, signalling or protection circuits.
