Automatic machine for dispensing packed meals, consists of a number of storage compartments which are next to each other above a conveyor belt. Each of the storage compartments contains a stack of packaged meals which can be removed by a drive mechanism. The storage compartment which has to deliver a package meal is selected and delivers a packaged meal to the converyor belt. The conveyor belt is slowed down when the machine is operated until the storage compartment delivers a packed meal to the belt. The slowing down unit incorporates a timing circuit. The storage compartments are fitted with supply elements which operate in synchronism with the conveyor belt, and is used for replenishing the stocks in the storage compartment. The dispatch-end of the conveyor belt has a lift unit which takes the selected package to a dispensing unit.
