ethanesulphonates of formula (I) (where R1 is 1-4C alkyl), e.g. 1-methyl-5-(2-butenylthio)-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl ethanesulphonate, are new cpds. (I) have strong insecticidal and acaricidal activity. Their activity (esp. in the veterinary sector) is better and their toxicity towards warm-blooded animals is lower than that of the known cpds. 1-methyl-5-(2-butenylthio)-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl methanesulphonate and O, O-diethyl-O-(3-chloro-4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-7-yl)-thiono- phosphate.
