New pyrazolyl dithiophosphate dervis. are cpds. of formual (I); (where R is 1-4C alkoxy or alkylthio; R1 is 1-4C alkyl, cyano-(1-4C alkyl), or phenyl opt. sub-st. by halogen, 1-4C alkyl and-/or 1-4C haloalkyl; and R2 and R3 are 1-6C alkyl). Cpds. (I) are pesticides active against insects, mites and nematodes, and can be used in agriculture, forestry, stored products and materials protection, and the hygiene sector. They are well tolerated by plants, and toxicity towards warm-blooded animals is favourable. Specific cpds. (I) include O-ethyl-S-n-propyl-O-(1-phenyl-4-methylmercapto-5-pyrazolyl)-thio- nothiolphosphate. In an example, this is prepd. by adding O-ethyl-S--n-propyl-dithiophosphoryl chloride to a mixt. of 1-phenyl-4-methylmercapto-5-hydroxypyrazole and potassium carbonate in acetonitrile and stirring 3 hrs. at 40 degrees.
