Solid fluid suspension sepn. - in anchor stirrer tank with two mesh cages enclosing linen interlayer

Solid-liquid mixtures such as aq. suspensions of aluminium hydroxide are scrubbed and sepd. on a large scale in a cylindrical tank with a perforated bottom plate. A cylindrical cage, fitted inside, has inner and outer walls consisting of wire or textile mesh, with an intermediate layer between them. An anchor stirrer has an outside anchor diameter which is a few millimetres less than the inside diameter of the cage. Process isesp. suitable for solids suspensions with a colloidal-like behaviour which are reluctant to ppte and can easily clog filter pores. Such suspensions can now be scrubbed, concentrated and sepd. quickly and trouble free.
