Process comprises reacting free H2SO4-contg. Al sulphate solns. with alkaline Na aluminate solns., pref. at 30-90 degrees C. Sufficient aluminate soln. is used to produce al sulphate solns. having an Al content corresponding to 15-70 g./1. Al2O3 and an Na content corresponding to 2-65 g./1. Na2O. The solns. can be used directly for clarifying waste water or water purification. The raw materials are cheaply available as industrial solns., e.g. from eloxal processes, and no additional water is required.
