The fluid level monitor assembly is compact and is easily fitted by unskilled personnel to the outside of a container. The unit consists of a two-part housing comprising an outer, snap-on protective cover (17) and base (16). The base has two borings (18)(19) each of which contains a fluid-sealing material. A separate PCB (21) carries the electronic components necessary for the fluid-level sensor and a conducting cable for the signal output (26) passes from the board through the cover plate. The PCB is held in place against the base plate by two self-tapping screws (23)(24). These pass through the seals and the wall of the fluid container so that they form electrodes within the vessel. The screw heads are in electrical contact with metallisation on the PCB.
