The container (4) may be cylindrical with a vertical axis. The ultrasonic transmission electrode may be a piezoelectric element (1) made of 1-3 composite material, formed to fit on the curved side of the container. The element is exited by interdigitated metallized electrodes (2,3). The electrode assembly may include a reflector made by vapor deposition of aluminum. A similar electrode (5) may be attached to the other side of the container to receive sound waves transmitted through the fluid.
