The cutting wheel is for fine ceramics, e.g. porcelain and comprises a one-piece tungsten carbide ring (2) with cutting edges, and a hub (3) which is made of self-lubricating cheap plastic and comprises a half-core (13) to which a plate (14) is fixed by ultrasonic welding or gluing. The half-core is stepped (15, 16) to support the plate and the ring. The cutting ring is symmetrical about the point, which perpetually encloses an angle of 90 deg.. The flanks of the tungsten carbide ring and the plastics hub rim are aligned and form a continuous, evenly-sloping edge face.
