Novel compounds of the general formula: IMAGE wherein R and R2 are hydrocarbyl groups, R1 is a hydrocarbylene group and R3 is hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group, which groups R, R1, R2 and R3 may be substituted by or contain one or more heteroatoms or heterogroups, have utility as antioxidants for organic materials such as lubricating oils.
