The inlet 13 may be tangential to the chamber 13SP1/SP instead of as shown. Exemplary dimensions to produce laminar flow in channel 19 are: A=20 mm., W=1-4 mm., D=0À5-2 mm., T=10-100 Ám., diameter of channel 18= 40 Ám., diameter of channel 19=100-150 Ám. The means 12 may as shown schematically in Fig. 4. The humidifier 32 may be a chamber with a curtain dividing the inlet from the outlet and through which the air must pass. The curtain is partially immersed. Alternatively the humidifier is a chamber partly filled with liquid, the air being bubbled through it.
