Cupboard or wardrobe design for single handed assembly - uses interlocking tongue and groove jointing between back and sides

The design is intended to allow one person to assemble the unit in the position in which it is intended to stand, i.e. with its back directly against a wall. The back panel has a groove on the rear on each side near the edges. The inner rear edges of the side panels are fitted with fillits having a forward projecting tongue. The inner surfaces of the side panels immediately in front of the fillets are recessed. The edge of the back panel is inserted into the side recess at an angle. The side is then rotated to form a right angle to the back when the fillet tongue enters and locks into the groove in the back panel. Locating plates at plinth height fitted to the sides enter complementary slots in the back panel.
