1425477 Two-part couplings; terminals CANNON ELECTRIC (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd 19 March 1974 [23 March 1973] 14077/73 Heading H2E Jaws 7, 8 are crimped together on either side of the insulated conductor 6, the conductor being gripped and the insulation broken through to make electrical contact, jaw 8 at least being electrically conducting. The interlocking projections on the jaws contain apertures 9 to allow them to deform. Either or both of the jaws may contain serrations (Fig. 3, not shown) or may be corrugated (Fig. 4, not shown), and jaw 8 (and, if electrically conducting, jaw 7) may have a coating of insulation which is broken through when the jaws are crimped. Jaw 8 has an extension (not coated) to which electrical contact can be made; this extension can be either a pin as shown or a socket element. The jaws can be separate, as shown, or may be formed from a single sheet of metal. Several pairs of jaws may be assembled in an insulating housing either before or after crimping (Fig. 5, not shown).
