One trouser leg is spread on each board and held in place by suction, while the rest of the garment hangs in the space between the boards. The full equipment consists of the two boards, pref. set at an angle and with a gap between, and the associated suction devices, which are placed under the respective boards - again with a gap between - and which are controlled by both instantaneous and hold-on switches; in addn.; there is a separate board of the sleeve board type, also equipped with suction, for dealing with the smaller areas. The angle between the two large boards is pref. 60-85 degrees, esp. 80 degrees; its purpose is to make it easier to spread the two trouser legs flat at the same time. Pref. a separate instantaneous and a separate hold-on switch are provided for each of the two boards, so that one trouser leg may be adjusted and settled in its final position before the next is attacked.
