After a first mechanical shaping process, e.g. rounding off, the articles are exposed to a micro-waves for a max. of 10 secs., so as to give a temp. rise between2 and 3 degrees C. The micro-wave energy can be exerted both from above and below, simultaneously or nearly so, by means of suitably mounted emitters. Small-diameter articles can be treated either from the top or the bottom only. Micro-wave treatment can be carried on the articles passing between a rounding machine and a lengthwise roller. The process reduces the stress release time of mechanically-processed ad pre-shaped articles of dough, e.g. to be made into loaves of bread.
