Battery powered lighter using semiconductor crystal circuit - has transistor, diode and thyristor in integrated circuit and has tuning resistance in series with first coil
The battery powered lighter using a semiconductor crystal circuit has three electromagnetically coupled coils (L1,L2,L3) connected to a power source (+V) forming an oscillating transformer, one coil (L3) being of step-up type. A transistor (Q) is linked to this transformer to constitute a resonant circuit with the output signal coming from the step-up coil. This signal is rectified by a diode (D) and charges a capacitor (C). When that is charged sufficiently a self-switching thyristor (S) closes the circuit to a discharge terminal (OUT). Transistor, diode and thyristor form an integrated circuit. The transistor emitter is earthed. Between one coil (L1) and the transistor there is a variable, tuning, resistance (VR).
