The tripod supporting heavy loudspeakers in a field, comprises a central column (4) capable of supporting and releasably holding a loudspeaker above ground level, and at least three splayed legs (1, 2, 5). The column (4) is of sufficient length to permit its pointed end (7) to be driven into the ground, all as in 7514421. The central column is of such length that it can be driven into the ground to a greater depth than the pointed ends (5) of the legs.
