The folding tripod for cameras has a telescopic central column (16) and at least three telescopic legs (2, 4). These are attached to a flat connecting plate (6, 8). One of the legs (2) is rigidly attached while the other two (4) can swivel. The column is perpendicular to the plate and can be removed from it for transport and storage. When not in use the tripod can be moved with the aid of wheels (18) arranged at the base, the wheels preferably being provided with an electrical drive.
