A pharmaceutical preparation having a prolonged uniform active compound release contains an ion exchange resin to which a pharmacologically active compound is bound in the form of a complex of active compound and exchange resin. This complex is impregnated with an agent which delays the swelling rate of the complex particles in water. The preparation is provided with a coating of a water-permeable barrier layer for the diffusion. A process for the preparation of the pharmaceutical preparation is described.
