Mercury on ion exchange resins was eluted with a soln. contg. ammonia and halides of ammonium. Ammonia was removed from the effluent and reused. Hg(2.50g) was adsorbed on Diaion CR-10(iminodicarboxylic acid type, 100ml in a 15mm diam. glass tube) by passing a soln. contg. 135ppm HgCl2 and eluting with 200ml 28% NH3-5% NH4Cl at a space velocity of 1/hr. the effluent was heated 25min at 70≦̸C to obtain a white solid contg. 2.40g HgCl2.
