Articles are coated with a thermoplastic mass containing gold pigment using a pair of rollers, one of which removes the mass from a tank and the other makes a nip contact with it to transfer the mass to the articles, where by the transfer roller is maintained at a temp. which exceeds the temp. of the mass in the tank by 15-25 degrees C. - Used printing saucer rims with plain or patterned gilt edges. Printing is carried out without unsightly faults.
