Railway level crossing control and monitoring - with equipment designed for long main frame life irrespective of crossing alterations

An arrangement for the control and monitoring of railway level crossing safety devices is designed for long main frame life irrespective of the developments in the equipment or changes to the type of crossing. This is achieved by the use of prefabricated modules which can be individually and retrospectively wired into the frame of the installation. Each module (e.g. 15) contains sub-modules (19, 20) for a partic. function connected via a plug connector (31) and standard cable (40) to sub-modules of a further module (16) to complete the system assembly. Each module (15) has further connections (36) to the internal elements (19, 20) for those functions not implemented via the standard cables.
