Gravity die casting plant - has melting furnace at centre of circular row of dies filled by overhead ladle

The plant includes a stationary melting furnace located at the centre of a circular row of casting dies or chilled moulds. Above the furnace is a ladle fitted on its base with a stopper; and the ladle can be lowered into the furnace via a hoist. The hoist is mounted on a trolley and, after lifting the ladle, the trolley can be driven radially w.r.t. the vertical axis of the furnace along an overhead rail. The overhead rail can be rotated stepwise through 360 degrees on a vertical axis which is coaxial with the furnace axis, so the ladle can be used for the successive filling of the circular row of dies. Each die is pref. located on a stool fitted with a die opening and closing mechanism. Used in the high speed prodn. of Al or brass castings.
