Change gear drive for agricultural vehicles - has intermediate drive for providing fast travelling speed on road

The gear drive is for agricultural vehicles such as tractors which must have widely variable speeds. The gear drive also enables the vehicle to travel on public roads at relatively high speed. The drive has an intermediate gear train for increasing the speed with at least two gears on a common shaft which can be coupled. One of the gears of the intermediate drive is driven by the gear of the working gear train. The other gear of the intermediate drive is engaged with a gear wheel which is held on the main shaft. This arrangement forms two closely spaced speeds with the same step ratio. Each particular main speed has hence a slow and fast stage. A standard intermediate drive can be used for all gear drive varients.
