There are prepared novel secondary acyloxyamines of the formula IMAGE in which Z1 represents hydrogen or acyl and Z2 represents acyl, where acyl denotes the radical of an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic or araliphatic carboxylic acid, and R1 represents an optionally substituted aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic hydrocarbon radical, or their salts. These compounds are obtained in a manner known per se by esterification of corresponding hydroxyamines. The novel compounds in particular have cardioselective beta -receptor-stimulating actions of a long duration of action. The novel compounds thus have a positive chronotropic and in particular a positive inotropic action. These pharmacological activities characterise the novel compounds as cardiotonics, which can be used alone or in combination with other compounds having cardiovascular activity, e.g. cardiac glycosides, in the form of pharmaceutical preparations for the treatment of myocardial insufficiency.
