Free-flowing premix, for addition to heavy-duty detergents, is made by making a suspension of urea in an organic solvent, such as methanol, and adding to the suspension an ethoxylated fatty alcohol of 12-18C in the chain, and u0-19 ethylene oxide units, and then evaporating off the solvent, and allowing to stand for one hour at ambient temp. 0.5 g of SiO2, as pyrogenic SiO2 or silica gel of microscopic size, per 5 g. of urea are pref. added to the suspension before evaporation. The surfactant is pref. =50% of the solid cpd. The premix is added to the other constituents of the detergent. Phosphates may be reduced or eliminated in the detergent.
