The protection device prevents electrolytic internal corrosion in sections of piping carrying aq. liquids that are not cathodically protected and that are connected by an insulating connection to a pipe section that has cathodic external protection. A rod-shaped anode is in the region of the insulating connection and a voltage is applied to it that is more positive than the inner potential of the externally-unprotected piping section. Specifically the anode is fixed into an anode support made of nonconducting material which can move with the help of a spindle in a tubular support at an angle to the main pipe which has at least two guides. The tubular support is connected via a flange to a reducing piece.
