The abutment is used to accommodate reaction forces occurring in forward-driving in mines, esp. with machines driving galleries forward, and is fixed on sets at least for the duration of such work. A motorised mobile support is coupled to a forward driving appliance, comprises slidge-type frame units, one coaxially behind the other, led together and relatively movable. These are fixed to the floor by anchors inserted in holes drilled in the floor. This can be fitted to a machine regardless of varying operational conditions.
