Tunnel or mine gallery driving shield striding structure - has thrust props bracing frame against floor on support prop insertion

For driving underground sectors, tunnels or mine galleries forward, the striding structure for a driving shield, esp. cutter shield, has an advancing support frame for the shield roof. It is braced against the floor by a group of props on both sides, coupled to an abutment braced against the floor by a set of thrust cylinders. The thrust props in the striding structure are mounted in the loading track of the set of support props bearing the support frame. They are sited in such a way that the support frame is braced against the floor via the thrust props when the support props are inserted. This provides reliable guidance of the support frame in all shield loading conditions, with no need for a special spreader frame against the roof, or abutment anchorage.
