Atomiser e.g. for liquid fuels, does not have any moving parts. It comprises a hollow cylindrical tube (23), a coaxial core element (21) leaving an annular space between itself and the tube wall and having at least one helical groove without interconnections, and a duct element (22) around the core. The duct consists of at least one layer of a helical winding in opposite direction to the helical groove, and, where more layers are provided, successive helical windings are alternating in opposite directions. The core may be cylindrical and may have two to eight non-intersecting helical grooves.
